Update needed

I think some update is needed:

  • I doubt his hair is still brown.
  • Last year I read an article in Denver newspaper that he had a major cardiac problem.
  • He is now with Lockheed
  • He is rumoured to be next NASA JSC Center Director.

  • His hair is grey in recent photos I've seen, but none of them were explicitly GFDL friendly.
  • I didn't find anything obvious in a Denver Post archives search, but there is one 2004 Post article mentioning him by name you're welcome to look up: "An all-new space race", Greg Griffin, January 26, 2004, page C-01.
  • I've added sourced information about his career with Lockheed and being chosen as the JSC Director.

  • NASA has an updated picture on their website [1]. I'm pretty new at working on these articles, so I'll let someone else do this unless I get around to figuring everything out pretty soon...
  • I'm not exactly how we should approach this, since the article currently treats Mike Coats primarily as an astronaut with less information about his career/activity within NASA organizational structure. We should probably approach this article more like John Glenn, with the astronaut information being secondary.

Request info re Shuttle Discovery

I am attempting to get information regarding the above.

RE: Space Shuttle Discovery, STS-29 March 13, 1989 to March 18, 1989 commanded by Commander Michael L. Coats, which landed in Edwards Airforce Base, California. The mission used an IMAX 70 mm camera to film scenes of the earth (effects of fires, floods, volcanos etc).

After the mission Discovery crew or administrators presented IMAX with a flag from the state of New Mexico. I am try to learn the significance, or connection of the NM flag. And hopefully, learn exactly who presented it.

Any information you can provide me would be very greatly appreciated. Thank you. Brenda Wood, NC brenda@gerrywoodauto.com —Preceding unsigned comment added by 166.82.182.184 (talkcontribs) 9 February 2006 23:21 (UTC)
