Notability

Very cleverly named and obvious attempts at grassroots activism, but why should this one particular research project have a Wikipedia page? JFW | T@lk 17:41, 24 Jun 2005 (UTC)

On Notability: The Miami Project to Cure Paralysis is the world's largest research center dedicated to spinal cord injury. They occupy an entire building on the University of Miami Medical School campus with over 30 different faculty laboratories. User:Exaltation 6 August 2007

Sources

Non self-published sources are a "must" in this case. Specially since it is nominated for GA. In addition in most cases they will have to be in accordance to WP:MEDRS, and right now they are not.--Garrondo (talk) 11:27, 19 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Agree. Would prefer to see some of the Project's research output directly referenced. Grounds for a fail in my view. JFW | T@lk 11:55, 19 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
Even the citations of their (primary) research is not enough for a section like "Discoveries". I would say that reviews of their scientific work, either in media or as reviewed in secondary scientific works would be required to be included in such a section. Anything else would be simply a shop-list of published works.--Garrondo (talk) 12:45, 19 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
I think that the statements are careful to describe what the researcher are doing rather than what is the scientific fact that has been established. Hence, WP:MEDRS is not as applicable as it would be if I were sourcing an article about paralysis and the scientific debates surrounding its causes and cures. My main problems are with the discoveries section: Saying: The center was the first to show conclusive evidence of chronic demyelination after spinal cord injury in humans it is clear a science claim that I feel cannot be self-referenced. Section is full of similar examples.--Garrondo (talk) 07:46, 20 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
