Spring Gardens

After the abolition of the Board it was used as the headquarters of the London County Council. After the building of County Hall, the LCC met there instead of Spring Gardens, which was used as ancillary office space. The original lease for the land was 100 years from 1858 and so it expired in 1958 and the building reverted to the Crown. It was used as office space by central government departments for a few years then remained vacant until it was agreed that the site should be used for a new headquarters for the British Council. Accounts

The earliest issues of Whitaker's Almanack make reference to the appalling presentation of accounts of the MBW - afterwards admitting that this was the fault of the accountant. Jackiespeel 19:29, 8 March 2006 (UTC)

The volumes in question are 1869, 1870 and 1871: the first refers favourably to the accounts of the fire department, the second to that of the Corporation of the City of London. Jackiespeel (talk) 20:58, 29 July 2011 (UTC)

Meetings at Guildhall

MBW Fire Brigade Stations

At least two survive: opposite the main entrance to Liverpool Street Station - one behind bus stop 'K', lower section now a supermarket, and what is now the South London Theatre. Are there any more? Jackiespeel (talk) 16:32, 9 August 2024 (UTC)
