First image on the article
The first image on the article does not have a caption and therefore someone who had little or no knowledge of Merced would have no idea what this building is and why it is on the article. Please add a caption to this image. - Erebus555 16:21, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
I think that is the old County Courthouse. It was restored and earthquake-proofed in the 1980s, and turned into a museum. -- Jasper 19:10, 25 March 2007 (UTC)
Cory Williams notability
Cory Williams is notable and was born and raised in Merced, but because he moved to Southern California last year, he was removed from Merced's "prominent people" list. I think people just don't want Merced to look good. 76.83.1.210 (talk) 06:34, 1 April 2009 (UTC)
Notability concerns and potential revert war
Vincent Cervantes is not notable by wikipedia's standards, WP:PEOPLE. The citations given are two articles in the local newspaper and what appears to be his own web page. Furthermore, there is an ongoing revert war between an IP address that has only ever dealt with Vincent (Special:Contributions/169.235.93.5) and Special:Contributions/Ohnoitsjamie. Reverting changes multiple times is not allowed under the dispute resolution policy.
I was also concerned about Salar Kamangar. Merely being an executive in a publicly traded company does not qualify someone for notability. Some other source is needed to establish notability, for example, citing the unique achievements.

Bowen and Allen have birth certificates from Merced County but were not really residents of Merced. They are from air force families and lived only briefly in what is really Atwater. Similar specious connection with Leigh.98.210.120.37 (talk) 20:56, 9 May 2010 (UTC)

New National Monument in Merced Feb 2010
As a 3rd-generation Japanese-American who had a Mother that was evacuated to the Merced Fairgrounds during WWII prior to relocation to the relocation camp at Amache, Colorado, I hope that the new National Park Service memorial just opened February 2010 at the fairgrounds will be included to be a part of this Wiki article. It is a beautiful national monument. Comment added by Scottnajima (talk) 05:40, 30 May 2010 (UTC)scottnajima
Newer photography additions, rework education section
Earlier today, I secured a deal with MMC to gain an aerial vantage point for photographing the Merced Community College campus, as well as the new MMC (hospital) campus on the north end of the city. What I would like to accomplish here is to update the education section of the article, and also introducing information on medical facilities in the greater Merced area.
While I can handle the photographic end of things, I'd like some others to climb on board and find source material for the section(s). Anyone?

Nutria
Nutria have been found in western Merced County. the debate then is whether to deport them to south america, or give them a path to citizenship. they are DACC, deferred action for childhood Coypu.Mercurywoodrose (talk) 02:48, 13 February 2018 (UTC)
