Script error: No such module "Banner shell". Paddu: about the spelling issue, instead of trying to list all possible romanizations of a Devanagari word, it might be better to give the most common (as defined by google) anglicization and parenthetically include the accented form, for example:

Prithvi (pṛthvī)

What do you say?

Is there any need for all the links to ragas to have "(raga)" in their title, such as Kanakangi (raga)? If these names are only used for ragas (as I suspect they are), then simply Kanakangi will do. --Camembert

You're right, the disamb is redundant. I generated that list with a script, so I put a "(raga)" suffix just to be sure. -- Arvindn 07:29, 18 Mar 2004 (UTC)
Fair enough. I'll take them all out then. --Camembert

History

I've added a bit more information on History section such as the name of Venkatamakhi's work etc. The criticisms of 72 melakarta ragams are not elaborated but just mentioned some arbitrariness and the controversial character of the 72 melakarta system. --Aadal 04:56, 4 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
