Schickard failed?

I am pretty sure Schickard didn't fail. His machine did not work flawless, but the Pascaline, Leibniz' machina arithmetica, Hahn's circular calculator and a lot of the other early designs (and even a lot of later machines) had flaws too, especially with overshoot of the number-wheels and failing ten's carrys. If Schickard failed, so did Pascal, Leibniz and a lot of others. So i think this has to be set straight ... may i try? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.186.119.110 (talk) 12:59, 27 February 2025 (UTC)Reply

Electrical mech. calcs?

I'd argue that a mech. calc. is a mech. calc. even if powered by electricity. It's the computation machinery that matters. So I changed the intro text to reflect this; a mech. calc. may be implemented with electricity but not by electronics. --Wernher 10:10, 4 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Unit record equipment

Article needs additional text to either include or exclude such as there were both mechanical tabulators (that could add and subtract) and mechanical calculators.76.103.213.6 (talk) 07:18, 30 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Operating an Odhner calculator

Removing the section of Operating an Odhner calculator. Wikipedia is not a HOWTO repository.

Please add animation & video files.

In this article, please add animations about how the part/ whole machine worked. Please add videos of operating these machines. Include machine-descriptions, explain mechanisms This article is already a very good and precious article. But addition of more animated and video files would improve this article much more. Ramón Verea

Shouldn't the Ramón Verea calculator be included in this article? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 47.61.180.122 (talk) 08:29, 23 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
