Why the hell is it called McCarthy? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.153.192.15 (talk) 17:16, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
James McCarthy, a prospector, drowned in one of the rivers near by and the founder of the town, John Barrett, name the town after him. Originally it was called Shushanna Junction. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Flywma (talk • contribs) 04:30, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
Here's a citation for the Hastings murders: http://influx.uoregon.edu/1998/mccarthy/index.html I couldn't figure out how to make it correctly come out. can someone else post this? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bweenie (talk • contribs) 23:55, 5 October 2010 (UTC)
non-objective POV
The statement that the Discovery show "examines ... the town's struggling economy" is true only from Neil Darish's perspective. The other residents find that the economy is doing very well, thank you very much. WilliamSommerwerck (talk) 20:53, 8 January 2015 (UTC)
