Ph.D. supervisor
I presume J. A. Ratcliffe was Wilkes Ph.D supervisor? Linuxlad 23:11, 14 Jun 2005 (UTC)
FREng
I've no idea whether there are any formal rules, but I get the impression that an FRS conveys such eminence that holders do not usually list other professional degrees or qualifications as post-nominal abbreviations.—Mhkay (talk) 23:42, 31 October 2008 (UTC)
Place of death
The article currently states that Wilkes died in Cambridge, but I can't find any reference to this information in the currently available search results in Google News (http://news.google.com/). In fact, short of an actual obituary, his date of death isn't even certain. Citations, anyone?—QuicksilverT @ 19:18, 30 November 2010 (UTC)
Titles and honorifics
Formally, Wilkes would have been 'Professor Sir Maurice Wilkes, etc.'. If I understand WP:NAME properly, 'Sir' is allowed in the first line but not professor. To get round this, I've moved all the styles to later in the first paragraph. Can anyone think of a better way to do this? -Parsonscat (talk) 08:13, 1 December 2010 (UTC)
