I believe we should use Option 1 instead of Option 2, since the latter seems to be of much lower quality than the first. I didn't wanna edit war so I am thus beginning this discussion. Furthermore, I think that the Cropped version given by TansoShoshen is ideal. EarthDude (talk) 09:49, 26 January 2025 (UTC)Reply
This third one by Fylindfotberserk appears comparatively better among all three in terms of area of exposure and contrast between cloth and skin. Riteze (talk) 23:48, 26 January 2025 (UTC)Reply
Option 1 Better in quality and I see no issues about it. Not sure why there's this image issue now when option 1 was the infobox image for a bit of time without fuss. I'm strongly opposed to the third option as it's not an official portrait. --TDKR Chicago 101 (talk) 13:39, 27 January 2025 (UTC)Reply
I think it's more of following a precedent, especially when the subject is no longer in office and/or is deceased. Look at Obama, Clinton, Bushes, Reagan, Carter, Blair, Gordon Brown, Cameron, Lula, etc. If an official portrait is available and in good quality, we should use it over candid pics. This I think is also in the case when the subject is deceased since the argument of "using a recent picture" would no longer apply as for deceased celebrities/politicians/athletes, etc. the images used on their IB's are pics depicting them either younger, in their prime (in this case while they held office) or a black and white pick. I think for Singh's case, it makes sense to use an official portrait since it's in good quality, follows precedent with other wiki articles that have official portraits available and I honestly don't see the issue in using either official portrait (1 or 2), however I have a preference for 1 due to quality. You should choose option1 as to my mind from Indian perspective, option does not do the justice to his serious and no-nonsensical personality. Mayla23 (talk) 14:51, 30 January 2025 (UTC)Reply
Both the photos have been used in official pages. While Option 1 appears as an official portrait of the PM[1] the latter appears also on the page managed by the Prime Minister's office. Both photos are during Dr. Manmohan's term as Prime Minister of India, his most significant accomplishment. The choice then rests with which is the better image per se. While many hear have argued for Option 1, because it has a higher resolution, it is also a fact that at the size it will portrayed in Wikipedia, Option 1 is much darker. Option 2, shows the whole face much more clear. So my vote is for Option 2. Rigorousmortal (talk) 17:15, 30 January 2025 (UTC)Reply
Option 1, the cropped version which TansoShoshen commented, is the best image. The face is straight looking at the photographer and the contrast is good. TarnishedPathtalk08:42, 31 January 2025 (UTC)Reply
