Mallard Courtship Display
In the Behaviour section, under Feeding, there is a picture of a mallard performing the grunt-whistle (a courtship behaviour); despite this, there is no description of the grunt-whistle or the rest of the (well-described) courtship rituals of the mallard in the entire article. Was a description present, and removed for some reason (with the photograph left behind)? Given there is an entire paragraph dedicated to describing forced copulation, some description of the ordinary courtship and copulation seems appropriate. However, similar articles on birds with notable courtship displays [i.e., Great Crested Grebe] are bare of elaborate description; is there a guideline for appropriate length/detail in describing courtship displays in bird pages? Should this be nested under Breeding, or given its own section? Currawrong (talk) 08:53, 2 May 2025 (UTC)
