Picture a little confusing

The pic of this compound is a little confusing, because the lines from the letters 'H','C', and 'O' look like they represent chemical bonds. I finally figured out that these lines are really just like arrows pointing out what the colors mean. Joeylawn 02:30, 12 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

This is now fixed. Thanks. Joeylawn 01:54, 27 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Does this compound absorbs water easily? Should we handle it in dry box since it reacts with water? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 169.235.34.194 (talk) 00:28, 23 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Uses?

With the number of uses of maleic anhydride in mind, I propose that we create a separate section for the uses of it. YogiReallyRoxx!! 11:59, 18 August 2012 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Yogirox234 (talkcontribs)

Nomenclature

Correct me if I'm wrong, but even though the compound is has a cis double bond, I don't think that it's even physically possible to have a trans cycloalkene with less than a 7 membered ring because the amount of angle strain would be entirely too huge. Moreover, the molecule could not exist as a dione with the double bond in any other position unless the oxygen in the ring had a +1 charge, and if it could (which it can't) to be truly correct we'd need to specify that it was (Z)-butenedioic anhydride (if that could exist). That said, because of the redundancy I've changed "cis-butenedioic anhydride" to "butenedioic anhydride," but if anyone disagrees with me feel free to revert my edit.Yamakiri TC 05-2-2013 • 14:15:53 14:15, 2 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
