Predecessor: Iron wire

Shouldn't there be a mention about the predecessor, iron wire? Kwantus (Nevermind, it's under reel-to-reel.)

Magnetic wire recording is mentioned and linked in the lead. ~Kvng (talk) 22:01, 21 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Tape vs disk

"Tape remains a viable alternative to disk due to its higher bit density and lower cost per bit" -- These tend to be true only for narrow usages these days. The article currently seems to have a wide scope but a narrow focus, which results in it being slightly misleading. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.182.109.10 (talk) 07:39, 11 July 2006

Current sourced statement is Template:Tq Seems fair. ~Kvng (talk) 22:03, 21 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Dates missing entirely

All history is next to useless w/o dates. At least a year *when* something happened. But I see nada here. --jae (talk) 18:19, 15 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

This article no longer has a History section. There is comprehensive history coverage at Tape_recorder#History and Reel-to-reel_audio_tape_recording#History and in Videotape. ~Kvng (talk) 17:09, 6 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

to tape

It occurs to me that the verb from of tape is commonly used for non-tape recording technologies. Should this be mentioned somewhere on WP? Gah4 (talk) 06:09, 19 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
