Corporate logo

I noticed that the corporate logo was recently changed.[1] The concern I have is that it changed the logo used most recently (the star burst logo) with an older logo. I have some old pay stubs from 1997 that use the MCI star burst logo, so the logo was used prior to the Worldcom merger. Does anyone have the date the logo was changed so that we can show both with appropriate dates in the image description? --Allen3 ^talk 19:45, 4 January 2006 (UTC)

MCI Communications and Verizon

Based upon recent edits there appears to be some confusion about MCI Communications being a part of Verizon. There was never any direct link between the two due to the fact that MCI Communications ceased to exist in 1998 when the company was acquired by WorldCom and Verizon not being formed until 2000 with the Bell Atlantic purchase of GTE. --Allen3 ^talk 14:43, 31 May 2007 (UTC)

The article needs to explain the status of MCI today, including the relationship with Verizon. Certainly this statement in the opening paragraph is incorrect: "The MCI name disappeared in January 2006 after the company was bought by Verizon." All you have to do is navigate to mci.com to see that that's dead-wrong. Merger proposal

Do we really need two separate articles about MCI? WorldCom wasn't even that well known until they bought the original MCI. There's a way we can integrate the history of the two companies into one article. Jgera5 (talk) 16:28, 12 June 2013 (UTC)

I don't think the artciles should be combined. MCI Communications had a long a rich history from its founding in 1963 until it was acquired by WorldCom in 1998 and this history should be preserved in its own article. If you combine the MCIC article with the MCI Inc. article it will be even more difficult than it already is to understand the role of MCI and WorldCom back when they were each competitors in the telecommunications space. Full disclosure, I worked for MCIC from 1984 until 1995. I hope to start working on these articles in the not to distant future. FFM784 (talk) 14:13, 14 March 2015 (UTC)

I completely agree with the "not combining" discussion. Two completely different companies with divergent cultures and strategies that enmeshed together would lose the flavor and confuse the narrative. That is apropos to combining AT&T and Verizon because they were at one point all under the original AT&T. Nonsensical. Augustspecht (talk) 11:38, 6 August 2016 (UTC)

1967 FCC recommendation v. decision

As of 2017-08-30, the "Founding" section includes, "Hearings on Microwave Communications' initial application between February 13, 1967 and April 19, 1967 resulted in a recommendation that the FCC approve MCI's application." This resulted in a "recommendation". What about the actual implementation? I assume that took place in the same year, but it seems different from a mere "recommendation".
