Is that really a fact?

I mean i'm sure there are others who won't is that really a big deal

Ok, we seem to have two conflicting sources. One says her parents are Chinese immigrants, the other says they are Taiwanese immigrants. There is a difference in attitude in the USA and China. In China, the "minorities" people, most of whom are racially Mongoloids and are therefore largely indistinguishable from each other (eg Han, Tibetan, Manchu, Mongolian, Zhuang, Tai, etc), and some who are not Mongoloids, eg Uighurs and Tajiks, all of whom are Chinese, with the minority peoples given favourable treatment compared to the majority Han Chinese, that is the minority peoples are positively discriminated. In the USA, there is still a strong attitude held by the a significant proportion of the majority white European population that they are superior to all other races living in the USA. Minority peoples are not given preferential treatment as they are in China, and in fact socially they are negatively discriminated, and they still generally live in ghettoes, and in the case of Native Americans in reservations, which as all know are areas of great deprivation. Because of immature edit warring by various editors, we'll have to do the same thing here that we did for the article on Jeremy Lin, by compromising and stating "Taiwanese or Chinese descent".

And just for the record, attempting to apply labels on individuals is quite immature, and both Lucy and Jeremy are not Taiwanese or Chinese. They are American. It's as simple as that. Being "descended" from a particular country is of no importance when that doesn't even define them in the way that some people attempt to do so. What I see is immature behavior by some particular Han Chinese (including diaspora) from either China or Taiwan, or Asian Americans attempting to cling to some sort of group identity and "claim" people to be part of them. Yet it's not about the group identity, but rather the individual and that's what's important in this article about Lucy Liu. She is not some sort of "representative", so just stop yourself before you try to push your views on these individuals, and stop trying to "be proud" for others' achievements. 68.105.192.216 (talk) 08:04, 11 February 2013 (UTC)

How to include that Lucy Liu probably had plastic surgery (implants)?

The following issue is delicate but I think it should be addressed in the Wikipedia page so that especially Asian women get an honest impression of Lucy's feastures. The movie 'Flypaper' contains a famous scene where 'Dot' (Lucy) makes love among snakes. I am certainly not an expert on the matter, but the shape of her visible breast seems unnatural. Especially when compared to the earlier movie 'City of Industry' (probably shot in 1996) there also appears to be more tissue.

Dates of her parents

What are these dates? I can only assume they're birth/death, but they are certainly wrong. While I didn't do an exhaustive search because I'm not a Wikipedia editor, I know her Mom was alive in 1999. Someone should check their sources and try again.

Unverified year of graduation. Age when discovered.

Under Early Years she's described as graduating from high school in 1986. Although that's likely (as would be 1987), there's no age or date provided for that in the source so I deleted it.

Under 1990-99, she was discovered at the age of 21. Around 3 min 20 seconds into the video source, she clearly says she was 19 years old. It's correct now.

Last name - marginal note

Currently very early in the article we have "This is a Chinese name; the family name is Liu." - given that the title is (first name) (last name), which is the same convention as English speaking names I'm not sure why this marginal note is necessary.
