Merge

I disagree with the suggestion to merge. The term "Low Desert", AFAIK, is almost exclusively associated with just the California portions of the Sonora Desert, and excludes those portions in Arizona and Mexico. BlankVerse 14:42, 30 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

After consulting with a couple of Wikipedia editors who live in the area, I've removed the merge request and done some copy-editing that I hope makes things clearer. BlankVerse 13:57, 1 September 2005 (UTC)Reply
I respectfully disagree. I live in the Phoenix, Arizona area and admin a low desert gardening group. All Master Gardener documents and documentation from the University of Arizona distinguish areas here as low desert, intermediate desert, and high desert. I had never heard of these terms being exclusive to California. Wca42 (talk) 17:25, 29 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

stub?

I'm not sure this necessarily qualifies as a stub. I think the article could purely be in reference to the phrase "Low Desert", and all other related information could be linked to the Colorado Desert page. I think it would be inappropriate to build a whole page about the Colorado Desert under the more local slang term for it, the Low Desert.

Not just California

In Arizona, local usage is:

  • Low Desert = Phoenix, Yuma, Colo River towns (500 - 1500 ft elevation)
  • Intermediate Desert = Tucson & vicinity (+/-2500 ft el) = Sonoran Desert Uplands
  • High Desert = Navajo Res, Arizona Strip (+/- 5000 ft el)
