What is the placename's etymology? Is 'Loveland' a person's surname or is it really (intended to be) descriptive? --Menchi (Talk)â 08:30, 18 Jan 2004 (UTC)

I just added a sentence explaining the odd name. I'm going to try and see if the local historical society or chamber of commerce will allow me to adapt their narratives of the town's history. Also, I'd like to discuss some of the things Loveland has done to try to capitalize on their humorous name, including a special stamp and the annual "Valentine Lady". – Minh Nguyễn (talk, contribs, blog) 03:53, 8 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Flag

I never knew that Loveland had a flag, but today I saw an old one hanging in the main lobby of Loveland City Hall. I didn't have a camera to take a photo of it, but I remember enough of it to make a crude image that I'll upload soon. If I get the chance, I'll go to City Hall again and take a picture. – Minh Nguyễn (talk, contribs) 20:22, 11 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Okay, it's now uploaded as Image:Flag of Loveland, Ohio.png. Interestingly, the flag features the date "1796", which conflicts with multiple sources that give 1795 as the year Loveland was first settled. However, I think the first source I consulted when writing this article had 1796, so I'll have to read into this issue some more. – Minh Nguyễn (talk, contribs) 22:31, 12 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Loveland Post Office

The source provided in the article says that the Loveland Post Office began operations in 1775, but the GNIS, based on The Post Offices of Ohio (1979), provides information about two Loveland post offices: the first was founded as Obionsville Post Office on 24 October 1831; the second was established as the Loveland Station Post Office on 27 November 1871. The GNIS data sounds a lot more plausible, so I may end up changing this passage. – Minh Nguyễn (talk, contribs) 07:11, 24 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Okay, the second post office I mentioned was actually in Mahoning County. So I'll go with the first. – Minh Nguyễn (talk, contribs) 21:00, 30 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Loveland Frog

Loveland is pretty famous for the Loveland Frog. Should there be something about it in this article? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.49.103.214 (talkcontribs) 07:26, 25 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

No it isn't, except maybe for cryptozoology enthusiasts. The local media only mentions it once in a blue moon, whereas Loveland's efforts to attract cycling events regularly attracts attention, even though the main events have moved on. Loveland certainly isn't a Loch Ness, and it would sound odd to stick some mention of the frog in this article's History section. I think a link under See also is all that's necessary. – Minh Nguyễn (talk, contribs) 06:07, 5 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Intro Language

I noticed this edit from last week: "Loveland is also known as the most goddamn boring place in the world to live. Many residents refer to Loveland as "The Suck" or "My own personal Hell"." I'm new to all this, but it seems POV, uncited, and unnecessary. I live in Loveland as well, so I don't really get where this is coming from. If I remember, I'll delete it if no one objects. You're right. A vandal came in and add that POV, uncited, and unnecessary information. It was added by an anonymous user, whose edits you can track here. In the future, if it sounds that unencyclopedic, feel free to remove it. If it's a borderline case, you can draw attention to the issue by adding a Template:Tl tag right after the sentence in question. – Minh Nguyễn (talk, contribs) 08:13, 28 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Wagner Hotel

Script error: No such module "citation/CS1".

I'm not certain which building "Wagner Hotel" refers to, but I think it's the three-story building on E. Broadway St. that used to be Ye Old Red Store. My history teacher mentioned its significance as one of the first three-story brick buildings in the area, but it'll be pretty hard to track down a published source.

Pokemon

I removed the section about Pokemon. It was made up of only 1 line, and was written by the same guy who vandalized the Japanese-American relations article.I am pretty sure he added it to just vandalize the article. 67.76.160.105 (talk) 09:28, 15 May 2011 (UTC)Reply
