Recruitment and Active Duty Decline
The article doesn’t mention the record breaking lows and overall decline in recruitment numbers or the decline in active duty service members while under Lloyd Austin’s command. This should be relevant to his time as Secretary of Defense.

- I suspect that this has more to do with a lack of incentives to join the military. Most of the professional armies in Europe are facing the same problem. Low pay, non-existent social prestige, and long working hours. Dimadick (talk) 11:47, 27 April 2025 (UTC)
- That’s not true. In 2022 the military began offering larger sign on bonuses and better incentives for new recruits and active duty members. Even if the incentives hadn’t improved it wouldn’t be relevant. It would just mean they were recruiting under the same conditions as every other administration. Long working hours? I’m not sure that’s true or relevant.
- What’s happening in Europe is irrelevant because we’re not talking about Europe. We’re talking about the U.S. Armed Forces under Lloyd Austin’s command. I’ve been told that comparing problems or similarities between two subjects isn’t Wikipedia standards.
