Prime minister of Laos

As I found on http://www.laogov.gov.la/activities/pages/news.aspx?ItemID=724&CateID=5 in 28 January Thongsing Thammavong was still prime minister and, it is clear, he is the current prime minister of Laos. I will change in this sense the table if I don't receive a replay based on a clear document Bogdan Uleia (talk)

Khalifa Haftar as de facto leader of Eastern Libya's government

Given the fact that the Tobruk-based House of Representatives Prime Minister Abdullah al-Thani has recently offered his resignation as the leader of the civilian government in the Eastern part of Libya, I believe the correct step for this page is to regard Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar as the de facto leader of that government. It is not a new fact that Haftar has been the de facto leader of the Tobruk side of the Civil War for a long time now, and I thought this resignation could lead to renewed discussions about this question.

Alternate governments?

Should the governments of the Syrian Salvation Government or the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (Taliban) be included as alternate governments as they claim to be the legitimate governments of Syria & Afghanistan respectively? Do they have to be recognized by other Un members to be on this list?

The president-elect of Mozambique in the elections of October 9 is Daniel Chapo, already recognized by the electoral body.

Georgia and Venezuela

Have the pro-democracy leaders in Venezuela and Georgia set up any sort of parallel administration or government in exile like Belarus's Coordination Council? My understanding is they have been recognized as president by some countries but there isn't any attempt at a parallel administration. TEMPO156 (talk) 21:13, 7 February 2025 (UTC)Reply

Correct. Edmundo González and Salome Zurabishvili have not set up parallel administrations, but are recognized as legitimate heads of state by (in the case of both) at least the United States; and by a lot of the Western Hemisphere in the case of el Presidente Gonzalez. – Jwkozak91 (talk) 06:48, 8 February 2025 (UTC)Reply
The US actually doesn’t recognize Gonzalez as a head of state, they recognize him as president-elect [1]. There is a difference. This doesn’t appear to have changed since inauguration day; there’s been no claim to have sworn him in at this time. Hence, his article doesn’t reflect any current office held and the Unitary Platform is not a government body. TEMPO156 (talk) 08:27, 8 February 2025 (UTC)Reply
Since you have removed Venezuela only I split this discussion for Georgia. Under the current inclusion criteria it doesn't fit, but maybe you can propose changing those. TEMPO156 (talk) 04:33, 4 April 2025 (UTC)Reply

Sudanese "Government of Peace and Unity"

It seems that one of the sides in the Sudanese Civil War has formed what it calls a Government of Peace and Unity as of today. Should this go under the "these alternative governments control part of their territory, but are not recognized as legitimate by any UN member states" table? --Jfruh (talk) 05:30, 29 March 2025 (UTC)Reply

Seems premature. RSF statement on 28 March: "Consultations and agreements on forming the Unity and Peace Government have reached very advanced stages, and it is highly likely that its formation will be announced after the holiday". TEMPO156 (talk) 04:13, 4 April 2025 (UTC)Reply

Georgia government in exile

The list says Template:Tq are included. Upon doing a Google search I am unable to find any recent articles attesting to the existence of one for Georgia. It looks like there were some statements by governments that election of the new president was illegitimate, but the idea that a parallel government has been set up appears to be a Wikipedia creation. This will have to be removed if we can't come up with citations to back it up. She has recently proposed creating something called a "platform of resistance" but it is unclear what its role will be or if it has been recognized as a government.
