Historical counties in other states?

Is there some logic to listing historical counties in other states, including ones as far away as Indiana? If so, some text should be added explaining what they have to do with Minnesota. Or is this just a copy/paste error from other states' county list articles? Strait (talk) 17:16, 14 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

Part of Minnesota (the part outside the Louisiana Purchase) was in Indiana Territory from 1800, Illinois Territory from 1809, Michigan Territory from 1818. The rest of Minnesota was added to Michigan Territory in 1834. Then Wisconsin Territory from 1836, and Iowa Territory from 1838 to 1848. But I have no access to the evidence I'd need to say whether this history accounts for all of that list. —Tamfang (talk) 06:03, 22 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
