I certainly have the same question. What is their jurisdication? I want to know as well how many of us have fallen victim to the greed of Linndale ? Also, how many cases/ complaints of profiling have been established concerning the Village? ~Ashley
I deleted the name of the other town affected by the curtailment law, since (1) Blue Ash is a Cincinnati suburb, and (2) I'm wondering if this might refer to New Rome. Since I don't know which it is, I simply removed both town and suburbia Nyttend 01:00, 9 February 2007 (UTC)
They raise $800K+ per year from traffic tickets ($6,000 per resident)...little to no social services and no businesses. Many suggest thier nickname should be the "Cancer of Cleveland". Mayoral court townships adjacent to urban areas such as this have a long history of being nothing more than a drag on the social and economic well being of the surrounding areas. Annexation by Parma, Brooklyn or Cleveland is the quickest method of dissolution, ensuring final curtailment. If Cleveland were to follow the same policy they would raise an estimated $3 BILLION, yes BILLION per year in revenue from traffic tickets...
This was featured in an article in Car and Driver Magazine about ten years ago, when Linndale had just been forcibly disincorporated by the Ohio General Assembly...and I thought the fictional Hazzard County(Georgia) was corrupt! If I remember correctly, The Mayor was also the police chief/Dog Warden/City Clerk/City Attorney/Justice of the Peace(?);when you got a ticket, depending on how you respected the Linndale officer, you got only a ticket, but if you started to argue w/ him, you got handcuffed and hauled to the Town Hall, where you were ordered to pay the fine on the spot, or spend a night/weekend in the Jail next door.
Too bad the Linndale Town Council pressured the Ohio Supreme Court into delaring the General Assembly's actions ILLEGAL!...
