How to denote the line through points A and B?

Hi there, I don't see the explicit notation for the line through A and B. What does AB stand for? The distance between A and B (sometimes denoted Template:Mvar), the segment from A to B (denoted sometimes Template:Mvar or [AB]), the line through A and B (denoted sometimes (AB))? Is there a fixed rule, regional rules? Christian.Mercat (talk) 17:22, 16 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

AFAYK, there is no commonly accepted notation, and, depending on the authors and the context, ABScript error: No such module "Check for unknown parameters". or ABScript error: No such module "Check for unknown parameters". may denote eiher the line, the segment, or its length. Some authors use the same notation for the three concepts. D.Lazard (talk) 17:45, 16 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
