Rhino release in 1989
I own a cd manufactured by Rhino Records in 1989. I thought I should mention this, since the article seems to suggest Rhino has never released any copy, which is factually incorrect.

Not a bad article, but it reflects the point of view that Van Vliet was a peripheral figure in the development of the music. Given that all of his work from Trout Mak Replica onwards is distinctively "Beefheart", it is misleading to say that the composing was mostly Harkleroad working with very raw tapes. John French also played a huge arranging role on some of the albums, but neither was involved with the later distinctively Beefheart albums.
It is important to give Harkleroad and French their due credit, to correct the earlier erroneous downplaying of their roles, but there is a common tendency to go too far in the other direction and downplay Van Vliet's pivotal role in composing the music.77Mike77 (talk) 19:46, 14 January 2013 (UTC)
