Official name?

Encyclopedia Britannica claims the official full name of the state is Al-Jumhūriyyah al-Lībiyyah, "The Libyan Republic", not The State of Libya like Wikipedia does. Is this just oversight by EB, or are multiple full names acceptable still (like in Argentina)? Source: https://www.britannica.com/place/Libya ~Sıgehelmus♗(Tøk) 21:11, 8 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

Script error: No such module "protected edit request". The article of National Emblem of Libya states that 'Since 2011, Libya currently does not have an official national emblem'. Therefore, it should be removed from the infobox as well since it's confusing. The government isn't actively using it, even in press conferences... KarsVegas36 (talk) 21:29, 9 March 2025 (UTC)Reply

I think we have a confusion here. The article Libya, Libya, Libya says that it is the national anthem since 2011. Warriorglance(talk to me) 07:26, 13 March 2025 (UTC)Reply

I think they meant the National Emblem, as it's literally the first sentence in that article. BriDash9000 (talk) 11:30, 20 June 2025 (UTC)Reply

Geography/ Climate info

In the geography section the line "Libya is one of the sunniest and driest countries in the world due to prevailing presence of desert environment.[citation needed]" is misleading if not incorrect. Libya does not appear on any list of top sunniest places in the world I could find, and sunniest seems subjective. This was the only data I could find on sunlight in Libya, and I am unsure if it is correct. There is however good data provided by the World Bank on the precipitation. This is what I think would be better:

The southern interior of Libya is considered desert and pre-desert. Along the Mediterranean Sea dry summers and wet winters can be expected. A plateau climate can be expected in the Jabal Akhdal and Jabal Natusah highlands, winters there being cooler with higher humidity and rainfall. It is approximated that 93% of Libya's land gets less than 100mm of rainfall each year.

Without even seeing your comment, I came to the exact same conclusion after looking for a source for this claim. I am removing that sentence from the article now. Thanks! — Gmarmstrong (talk) 21:47, 1 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
