Inconsistent sport names

Yelena Isinbayeva, who does pole vault, is listed as track and field, while Sergey Bubka is listed as pole vault. They should both be list under the same sport name for consistency. Daimler

The article states that the awards were founded by Daimler, among others, in 1999. This links to a disambiguation page. I considered correcting this to Daimler AG, but then I saw that this was the name used after the demerger in 2007. So should the founding patron be DaimlerChrysler AG, which was the company formed by the merger of Daimler-Benz and Chrysler in 1998? Coyets (talk) 10:35, 17 April 2009 (UTC)

Years

Athletes receive awards for achievements in the previous year. For example, Usain Bolt won the 2009 award Sportsman of the Year for success in 2008. We're supposed to write that Bolt was Sportsman of the Year for 2008 and 2009. And all the other years, we should reduce by one. --Aca Srbin (talk) 18:59, 9 January 2011 (CET)

Whilst I agree that your statement is factually correct (the 2011 Sportsman of the Year is awarded in 2011 based on performance in 2010), in all news articles, press releases, and anything else written/spoken (whether by Laureus or 3rd parties such as newspapers), it's always "The 2011 Sportsman of the Year is ..." or "The Sportsman of the Year 2011 is..." - i.e. the award name contains the award year, and the person is the current awardee during the awarding year. Therefore I would oppose the suggestion that all years are reduced by one in the article. (Disclosure: I used to work for the web agency who managed their web presence and have attended the Awards every year from 2007-2011 in a support role. Rescinded awards

We need some uniformity in how the four rescinded awards are shown. These are Armstrong (Sportsman 2003) and (Comeback 2000), Connor (Disabled 2004) and Jones (Sportswoman 2000) "Rescinded" is the term that is used and if you click on the winner on the Laureus page you get "Award rescinded after the sporting successes on which the Laureus World Sports Academy voted have been revoked by the relevant sport governing body."

How about a standard of striking through the winner's name and the one foot note for all cases with Laureus's preferred phrasing. We can choose whether "Rescinded" appears next to the name too.--Peter cohen (talk) 01:40, 8 July 2013 (UTC)

World Sports Awards of the Century 1999 in Vienna

The World Sports Awards of the Century in Vienna were the award first was presented, afterwards the Laureus World Sports Awards came. So why there is no mention about it? Muhammed Ali, Pele, Mark Spitz, Michael Jordan just all the best sport guys of the century were in Vienna to receive this award. The nomination list is the who the who of sports. this should get an article here.

According to the section Best Sporting Moment, the 2018 award was won by the Iowa Hawkeyes football team. However, the table in the section Winners by year says that the winner is Associacao Chapecoense de Futebol. They contradict each other.
