Si-sawat actually means greyish-blue cat. "Sawat" also means good luck.

This DOT about-kittens DOT com/563/Korat site appears to have a verbatim copy of this article as it existed until today. It does not appear to be the source of this article, as I have traced some of the contents of this article to their original sources, and deleted the copyvio material. I'm taking the unusual step of slightly modifying the URL in the above message, both because it no longer seems to have the Wiki material, but also because it seemed to be trying to put malware on my computer.

Korats are indeed still being bred in Thailand Ayshazen (talk) 01:58, 27 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thai

The paragraph headed "Thai" needs to be re-written into standard English. It obviously was not written by a native English speaker. 09:11, 7 April 2010 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kentfx (talkcontribs)

Featuring Thai Lilac and Thai Blue Point on the Korat page

Dear Readers I am chocked that Thai Lilac and Thai Blue Point are featured on the Korat page. It has been a long work for breeders all over the world not to mix these variant only recognized in England by the GCCF and they are a different breed using the Korats. But it is not supporting the Korat breed and the work of their breeders for decades to have them quoted here as a regular "version" of the Korat. In fact they are just another breed. I wish Thai Lilac and Thai Blue Point express themself here so they can consider having their own page. I wish also Korat breeders can make their voice heard as it is important to respect this breed as it has been saved and promoted for years: a silver tipped blue cat native from Thailand. Thanks for your input. Frederic Goedert --Passaya (talk) 18:47, 2 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

I thought there must have been some previous discussion about this, but apparently there isn't any. I was questioning whether Korat (as opposed to Khorat) is a distinct enough spelling per WP:SMALLDIFFS for the cat to be considered the primary topic. A Google search in Thailand brings up top results that are predominantly about the city/province. But setting the search region to the UK does give more cat-related top results, so I guess there's that. --Paul_012 (talk) 09:16, 20 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
