I think you need to reexamine the portion of this article that states the Kankakee terminates in Will County IL. I am not at all an expert in these matters, but live at the confluence of the Desplaines and Kankakee Rivers and can assure you that they meet, in my opinion, in Grundy County IL several hundred yards to the west of the county line. 108.223.238.62 (talk) 03:10, 22 May 2012 (UTC)

Flora and Fauna

Name and its connection to the Great Kankakee Swamp

Although in Anishinaabemowin, the river is known as Dootoogang-aki-ziibi (Land of the Morass/Bog River), and referring to the Great Kankakee Swamp, I can't find any references to it other than a pun reference that speaks of the Potawatomi stories connecting it to "mother's breast" (doodoosh). Plus, there needs to be something that speak to the Miami name for the river Theakiki. CJLippert (talk) 14:40, 19 October 2014 (UTC)
