Personal life

The source used for a third marriage looked like classic synthesis: They've been seen out together, they've been spotted sporting rings on their ring fingers, we've been told by an unnamed source, ergo they must have got married. No actual proof of this conclusion was provided. BLP requires better sourcing for statements like this. Nthep (talk) 15:11, 28 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

Well, after legal threats leading to a block, we still end up with a decent result. I guess the user's "legal team" will be stoked to have missed out on their fee for this one. Thanks for evaluating the source, @Nthep. ⁓ Pelagicmessages ) 02:55, 1 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

I found this discussion after the marriage was removed from the infobox. If the information is unreliable then surely it shouldn't be in either the infobox or personal life section? CountessCobra (talk) 14:11, 14 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

Removed. Us Weekly should never be used for something like this. Even the original People article apparently does not confirm the marriage. The best that could be done with this is "It has been reported that..." but for BLP info like this, that is likely a poor way to go. Unless and until there is some follow-up reporting or social media posting confirming they are married, this needs to stay out of the article. --IJBall (contribstalk) 14:17, 14 September 2021 (UTC)Reply
People does seem to confirm their marriage: Hartley was first linked to Pernas in June 2020, and they got married in May 2021. Also E Online: Days after E! News confirmed their marital status, Justin Harley and Sofia Pernas stepped out... and Entertainment Tonight Justin Hartley Shows His Love for 'Beautiful' Wife Sofia Pernas in Birthday Post, which references an Instagram post. Per WP:RSP, People is considered to be a reasonable source. OhNoitsJamie Talk 15:35, 24 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
Template:Re Thanks for that! That recent People source was just the kind of "confirmatory" source that I think we were looking for, as the original People source from several months ago wasn't conclusive on the question. --IJBall (contribstalk) 15:47, 24 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
