this article is terribly written and the "memorable feats" section reads like a child mashing at a keyboard

Spectacular feats In 1979/80, Erving executed the "Baseline Move", one of the arguably most spectacular baskets ever. He drove past a defender on the right baseline and went up for a layup. Then 7'2" center Kareem Abdul-Jabbar crossed his way, blocking the route to the basket and forcing him outwards. In mid-air, it was apparent that Erving would land behind the backboard. But somehow he managed to reach over and score on a right-handed layup despite the fact that his whole body, including his left shoulder, was already behind the hoop!

Erving also introduced the dunk jumping off the foul line. He executed this move in the 1976 All-Star Dunking Contest.

Removed Number Retired by Celtics

I removed the line "The Boston Celtics, in a mark of respect, also "retired" his No. 6 jersey and hung it in the rafters of Boston Garden alongside retired Celtic jerseys."

Number 6 was worn by Bill Russell. The Celtics retired number 6 in honor of Bill Russell not Dr. J. Bluesmanjay (talk) 20:11, 22 February 2010 (UTC)

No subject

I need some help as to what I could possibly add to this article. I believe that there needs to be some changes when it comes to details in describing Julius Erving's Memorable Features perhaps I could add some of his most famous dunks. I could also add with the applicable resources what inspired him to play, how he benefited the NBA, maybe even add quotes as to what former basketball players think of him. I don;t know all of these are just thoughts/ideas but I definetly need some feedback. Slam Dunk Picture

The second picture in the article, of Dr. J dunking, says that it was in 2001. I don't know what year it actually is, so I'm just going to change it to Dr. J slam dunking, unless someone knows the date, as it is obviously not 2001. Vyselink (talk) 22:41, 15 June 2011 (UTC)

High School and College

Does no one find it worthy of explanation how it is that Dr. J started college in 1968 and completed in 1986?! I assumed it was a typo--how can readers take it seriously without at least some accompanying explanatory note?Chafe66 (talk) 04:15, 21 May 2012 (UTC)

Career Statistics

The career statistics section does not indicate what the '*' or bold stats are for. It's probably obvious to a sports fan, but it may require some digging for someone who is very casual about sports. An explanation would be nice, to make the casual fans feel more included and less stupid, but it looks like properly including it in the legend goes back to editing some "NBA player statistics legend". missing citations

Hello Template:U! Your Template:Diff left the article with three or four undefined footnotes. Maybe they're meant to be to Dr J's autobiography, which seems to have been published in 2013.
