Jazz
Wasn't he also a big jazz fan, and a frequent visitor to Ronnie Scott's jazz club in London? I mention this because I once saw him use it on TV as a rebuttal of the claim that he shared Alf's views.

Pronunciation of his name
Was his name pronounced as spite or as spate? I probably should know but can't recall (cf the different pronunciation of ei in eight and height). Thomas Peardew (talk) 14:44, 15 January 2020 (UTC)
