Infobox image not stretched proportionally
On all of the systems that I've tried so far, the image is not displaying correctly since the MediaWiki upgrade this week. I've reported this as Bugzilla:2616 and listed it on Wikipedia:MediaWiki 1.5 bugs. Hopefully, we'll see a resolution soon. slambo June 30, 2005 01:30 (UTC)
copyvio problem
I finally took a look at the text in the Smithsonian link listed in the External links section and found that the bio information was a direct copy. SI's copyright page ([1]) forbids such a copy/paste, as using the text here is not considered fair use. Slambo (Speak) 16:33, 7 March 2006 (UTC)
Proposed merger: John Work Garrett into this article (done)
- For. Although John Work Garrett contains some information that might usefully be incorporated into this article, it is basically a recent duplicate by a new user who neglected to look for the existing article and categorize the new one. Because "John W. Garrett" is the older and more comprehensive of the two, it should remain. - Cuppysfriend 23:25, 27 December 2006 (UTC)

More work needed
Yesterday and today I did some cleanup on this article, but someone probably needs to visit either the Enoch Pratt library in Baltimore and/or the Library of Congress to get this article into shape, and I can't in the foreseeable future. I'm writing to note that I couldn't find census results for this Garrett or his father, only his mother and sister who lived in Baltimore's 11th Ward in 1870.Jweaver28 (talk) 22:15, 30 October 2018 (UTC)
