NPOV dispute [Vancouver Canucks]
Beginning with the explanation for his dismissal, the words and tone indicate it was written by someone who holds distaste for the former coach and are not appropriate for an article giving factual information. I do not possess enough knowledge of what happened to change it and am not sure if it should just be removed. Thebonewolf (talk) 05:07, 24 October 2014 (UTC)
I agree; the referenced article even states that GM Linden said the firing was not related to the Calgary Flames incident. I moved the information about the firing to a new paragraph. 65.90.67.4 (talk) 07:52, 6 November 2014 (UTC)
"Former coach"?
In the lead sentence, it says that John Tortorella "is a former American ice hockey coach." Is there a source supporting the fact that he will quit coaching? Otherwise I wouldn't consider him a former coach, although he currently is unemployed. I doubt there's any evidence, either, to suggest that he will quit coaching now. If no source is given, I will remove the word "former" from the lead sentence. HeyMid (contribs) 14:42, 30 May 2013 (UTC)
- I removed the "former" from the lead. I haven't seen anything that he plans to retire or take a different job, such as a television analyst. His name has been rumored as a replacement for some of the coaching vacancies as well. The addition was most likely meant to mean he is not currently coaching, but at this point I don't think it is necessary. --Mo Rock...Monstrous (leech44) 15:26, 30 May 2013 (UTC)
- Perhaps we could clarify by writing "is an American ice hockey coach, who is currently unemployed." But I don't think it's necessary; the following sentence, "Tortorella was most recently the head coach of the New York Rangers", clarifies that. HeyMid (contribs) 15:42, 30 May 2013 (UTC)
Middle name
Some have cited John Tortorella's middle name is Francis, while others have cited that it is Robert. Where can I find the correct source for this article? 108.0.244.168 (talk) 03:20, 4 June 2013 (UTC)

Benching Players for Not Standing During Anthem
Should this really even be mentioned on his page? It doesn't really seem like it's significant at all. That's a threat he will almost certainly never have to carry through with. I've never heard of an NHL player not standing for the anthem. This is a complete non-news item. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.69.2.64 (talk) 07:19, 12 September 2016 (UTC)

Dogs
It's hard to believe there is no mention of Tortorella's well-documented love for dogs, or the fact that he has established his own non-profit foundation. I think this is very Wikipedia-worthy material and should be included in the article. I've pasted a link to a 2016 interview where Tortorella discusses what motivated him to start the foundation. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=La-e7kiZWxg.
Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sean 2015 (talk • contribs) 21:47, 17 October 2020 (UTC)
