Paperclip invention date
It says on the 1900 page he invented it in 1900, but here it says 1899 and 1901. --DOsinga 18:57, 21 August 2005 (UTC)
- Johan Vaaler applied for a German patent on Nov. 12, 1899. It was granted June 6, 1901 (No. 121.067). His US patent (No. 675.761) dates from June 4, 1901. His application was filed Jan. 9, 1901. (See Foss, Halvard: "Den frittstående oppfinner", in the report of the first 50 years of the Norwegian Patent Office, (undated) Oslo, pp.188-195.) Roede 08:55, 16 January 2007 (UTC)
Death date
His LoPbN entry said
- *Vaaler, Johan, (1866-??) inventor of the paperclip
and an earlier edit of his bio said
(But note that the link is to an article that doesn't mention either a death date or specific doubt about it.)
An anon edit supplied the current death date.
I put 1910 into LoPbN, assuming it's just behind the curve.

- Johan (not Johann) Vaaler was born in Aurskog, Norway on March 15, 1866. He died in Kristiania on March 14, 1910. (Norsk Biografisk Leksikon, Vol. 9, 0slo 2005, p. 411). I am the anonymous person who contributed the year of his death, but at that time I had not been able to find the date. Roede 08:55, 16 January 2007 (UTC)
External links modified
Hello fellow Wikipedians,
I have just added archive links to one external link on Johan Vaaler. Please take a moment to review my edit. If necessary, add Template:Tlx after the link to keep me from modifying it. Alternatively, you can add Template:Tlx to keep me off the page altogether. I made the following changes:
- Added archive http://web.archive.org/web/20030407103313/http://www.writeonoffice.com:80/info/his_paperclip.htm to http://www.writeonoffice.com/info/his_paperclip.htm
When you have finished reviewing my changes, please set the checked parameter below to true or failed to let others know (documentation at Template:Tl).
Cheers.—cyberbot IITalk to my owner:Online 01:49, 28 February 2016 (UTC)
