Pseudonym
Jeff Tweedy was known as "Scot Summit" while recording Golden Smog's album "Down By The Old Mainstream." The name was created by using his middle name for his first name, and the first street that he lived on as his last name. He also composed the soundtrack for the Ethan Hawke film "Chelsea Walls," released in 2001.
NPOV Question and Broken Link
Found this phrase in the first paragraph:
"He is the coolest man alive..."
That's not really NPOV, is it? There's no source. Anyway, it could be reworded better, certainly.
Also, the first external link (Who Owns Culture? - Jeff Tweedy and Lawrence Lessig in conversation with Steven Johnson, http://wilcoworld.net/wired/) doesn't work for me. Incidentally, there is a blog entry (http://www.kottke.org/05/04/lessig-tweedy-copyright) about that talk. I believe the first link is to a webcast of the event, and is also linked to on the blog entry I mentioned, but seems to be no longer working. Is it giving anyone else trouble, or just me?
Can't Make Edit
Both of their sons, Sam and Spencer, have followed in their father's footsteps, playing in their own band, The Blisters, who played alongside Wilco at Chicago's Lollapalooza 2006.
But I can't figure out how to make the EDIT!!!
"The Springfield Massacre"
Should the "massacre" (as the Wilco Website calls it) be mentioned on here? It seemed to get Tweedy a lot of press, enough for an official press release anyway.

Only official websites are permitted, but I thought I'd put these here for reference

GA on hold
- He married Sue Miller in 1995 and they have two children., this is choppy and leads onto something completely different next paragraph
- August 25, 1967, should be wikilinked to August 25, 1967, as with all dates with years
- You refer to Jeff Tweedy as Jeff or Tweedy throughout the text, always use Tweedy and keep it constant
- notes, has only one 'note' which should be merged with citations.
- Billboard 200 of #8 wikilink Billboard and write it out as number eight
- [53][31] should be [31][53]
- The third external comes up with Bandwidth Limit Exceeded
- The billboard references don't link to anything, you will need proof of the peak
- They began dating in 1991 and were married four years later.[56] They have two children together, Sam and Spencer Tweedy. Spencer has been the drummer for a rock band named The Blisters since December 2003. The band has played at Lollapalooza, the opening of Millennium Park, and at Abbey Pub.[57] Very choppy with no flow
- a performance DVD by Tweedy., a live DVD
- The film was directed by, from 'performance DVD' to film
- Image of the DVD cover needs fair use rationale
- although he replaced this habit with smoking marijuana., reference please
Once these issues are addressed i will take another look at the text. M3tal H3ad 05:01, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
- but were reluctant to enter the recording studio after the terrorist attacks that day, remove 'that day'
- References [9][7] should be the other way around. M3tal H3ad 05:57, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
- One of the better GA's i will admit. I will pass this on the basis that
- Bob Tweedy worked at Alton & Southern Railroad in East St. Louis while Jo Ann was a kitchen designer. is referenced
- there are still some entered charts at #27, should be changed to number twenty seven etc(for all of them)
- Wilco (1995-today) changed to Wilco (1995-present)
- The lead could be broken into three paragraphs but that isn't really necessary at this stage. Good job M3tal H3ad 07:02, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks, those tweaks have been made as well. Teemu08 07:06, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
Wilco and Loose Fur bandmembers and discographies
Since both Template:Icon Wilco and Template:Icon Loose Fur have categories in them which cause them to be included set of articles that are tagged by bot with Template:Tl, it might make sense for the band members and related discographies to have similar categories. I was looking at Template:Icon Jeff Tweedy and noticed that he has Category:People from Belleville, Illinois and Category:Illinois musicians in his article. If he had Category:People from Chicago or Category:Chicago musicians in his article then he would be tagged with Template:Tl and thus they would fall under WP:CHICAGO. As WP:CHICAGO director, I would like to monitor these musicians, but I generally leave category decision to the editors of the pages. Please make whatever category decisions you feel would be correct with this in mind for all band members, the bands and all discographies.
I am placing this message several places. I am asking all respondents to respond at Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Alternative_music#Wilco_and_Loose_Fur_bandmembers_and_discographies.
Fair use rationale for Image:Sunkentreasure.jpg
Image:Sunkentreasure.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Spencer Tweedy
I think the info on Jeff's son Spencer in the Personal Life section should be shortened a little. Although I'm sure Jeff and others are very proud of his son, the article is about Jeff, and listing his sons bands, members of the bands, 13th birthday celebrations etc. could maybe be scaled back a bit. UrbanNerd (talk) 09:12, 28 September 2011 (UTC)
Conversion
I am making an interim reinstatement of my edit in the Personal Life section noting Mr. Tweedy's conversion to Judaism. The original citation referenced an embedded video clip where Tweedy commented on the conversion to Stephen Colbert. Additional citations include the following: http://www.thewrap.com/stephen-colbert-celebrates-rosh-hashanah-by-bringing-back-the-atone-phone-video/; http://www.rollingstone.com/tv/lists/30-best-colbert-report-bits-20141215/on-notice-20141215 (under section for "Atone Phone"). I invite further discussion on this edit here in the talk section.One-Off Contributor (talk) 04:37, 20 December 2014 (UTC)
- Hey, I love Colbert, but we really need a non-comedy source for this. Please read WP:BLP. The Interior (Talk) 04:40, 20 December 2014 (UTC)
- Citations independent of the Colbert sketch confirming the conversion include: http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=727715 (from a co-congregant at Tweedy's synagogue, "Jeff Tweedy of Wilco just recently converted to Judaism. His wife and children already are and now he is as well. My cite is that I belong to the same temple as they do."); http://livemusicblog.com/2013/12/20/concert-recap-jeff-tweedy-the-largo-at-the-coronet-west-hollywood-la-121913/. Also, for another Colbert citation, see http://www.exami ner.com/article/tweedy-setlist-the-state-theatre-ithaca-ny-9-24-14.
- I'm open to possibility that he did convert, but we are still not close to a reliable source for it. Forums are certainly not what we're looking for, and the concert review doesn't state it as fact ("apparently"). The Interior (Talk) 05:35, 20 December 2014 (UTC)

- Not sure as to the conversion statement, but I've just very quickly googled a couple of valid sources, which I'll add to the main page. - Erika BrillLyle (talk) 19:30, 20 December 2014 (UTC)
Television
Suggest creation of a new section titled "Acting" or "Television career" or similar. Tweedy appeared as "Scott Tanner" of the former band "Land Ho" in Episode 618 "Flu Season 2" of NBC's "Parks & Recreation", air date 04/10/14: http://www.nbc.com/parks-and-recreation/episode-guide/season-6/flu-season-2/618 Mikemclafferty (talk) 16:00, 11 April 2014 (UTC)

Revert to old revision
Template:Ping Hello! I admit that this edit about Norah Jones is non-notable trivia, but I'd like to suggest we go back to this revision of the article page. Your revert undid my Norah Jones edit but I would argue that these edits are substantive and contain notable additions about Jeff's more recent solo albums and book.
Thank you! — Trbo (talk) 19:13, 16 November 2018 (UTC)
- Template:Re I have no opinion on this outside my revert, which I still stand by, however if you can gain consensus to include the information I reverted, I'm ok with that. Cheers, - FlightTime (open channel) 19:19, 16 November 2018 (UTC)
- Alright. Here's what I added during these three edits that I consider notable for the biography of a musician:
- Information about his upcoming solo album
- Information about his recent memoir published by Penguin
- Add a sub-section for 'Subsequent Wilco albums' after Ghost is Born and one sentencing listing Wilco's four most recent albums.
- Rearranging the 'Other work' section, adding information about his first solo album Together at Last. — Trbo (talk) 19:57, 16 November 2018 (UTC)
- Template:Ping Who just made an edit to this page. Maybe you can help decide if these other works by Tweedy should be added back to the page. Thank you. — Trbo (talk) 23:29, 16 November 2018 (UTC)
