Maybe somebody can find this? 1976, Guthrie entered at Indy, passed her rookie test, but DNQ, in an Offy-powered, Bryant Heating & Cooling-sponsored car entered & owned by Rolla Vollstedt. What was the chassis? There was also a Foyt-owned, Gilmore Racing-sponsored Coyote-Foyt that year... Trekphiler 20:17, 15 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

I think it's probably incorrect to call any participation in events using the type of car raced at Indianapolis before the formation of the official "IndyCar" series (in the 1990s.. dunno exact year) as participating in "IndyCar" events. They would be participating in a CART or A USAC series and that is what should be mentioned. I don't know what applies to Guthrie so I can't make this change myself. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.88.87.242 (talk) 14:32, 19 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

In the 1970s and before, the series of races for the cars that adhered to the specifications of cars for the Indianapolis 500 was technically known as the Championship series. However, in the vernacular, they were always called Indy cars.71.196.162.124 (talk) 22:50, 9 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
