Merapi is in Central Java!!

The "Gunung Merapi" mentioned here cannot be the one in the referenced article, since Ijen is in East Java and Merapi is in Central Java!

I've removed the link and added a comment to avoid confusion.

They should use containers?

Why don’t they put the red liquid pooling on the ground that they break up so laboriously into a simple dissasemblable container? Seems like maybe you guys could use your brains a bit instead of just breathing all that shit in? I’m wondering if this is fake this seems too obvious… is the company running the mining operation just actively evil? 2600:1702:3B40:40E0:3C2F:6CD2:5F1F:CF9D (talk) 21:03, 12 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Not a "well paid job"

This wiki article states that miners are "well paid".

The link in reference for that statement lead to a 2011 bbc press article which is saying quite the opposite if you take the time to read it...

I cant find a button to ask a modification of this section which is quite shameful.

Now for the reality cause i went to the volcano myself today with a local guide who worked there as soon as he was a child : miners dont do this job because they are well paid but because they have no other choice due to their lack of education and skill.

1kg of sulfur extracted at an exhorbitant cost for the workers health (ZERO protection equipment) and a gigantic physical effort is paid 1000 rpi (0.06 euro) !!!!!!!

(A bottle of water in java cost around 7000rpi, toilet for tourist climbing at the top is 5000rpi same as in kuta beach, a very touristic place)

The company responsible for the buying is a chinese one and dont give a penny about the miners condition and security.

Rules for tourist access is edicted by the government. Rules for miners access is edicted by the compagny.

Death accident are far from rare, especially when replacing the tubes optimising the sulfur production (every 2 mounths).

So how can we read that its a well paid job ? how shameful can things be ?

Why is there absolutly no information about the buying price or the identity of the only chinese company buying the sulfur from this extraction site ?

From my point of view, easy answer. Im sure you can find it yourself.

Please if you go there, support the local people.
