Ukrainian-American
Igor Sikorsky, born in Kyiv and studied at the Kyiv!
Polytechnic Institute (1907-1911). Kyiv is not a part of Russia, it was always a capital of Ukraine! His son quoted "We are very glad that there are many people in Ukraine who are proud that Igor Ivanovich was born and studied in your capital. I remember very well that my father was proud that he was born in Kyiv, and he emphasized this repeatedly." 2601:547:1502:9620:24C2:2A17:2B16:731D (talk) 03:01, 31 January 2025 (UTC)
- Ukraine didn't exist when Sikorsky born. Kiev was a big city in Russian Empire. He was obviously Russian - born in Russian family in a Russian town. 188.191.20.239 (talk) 17:29, 20 February 2025 (UTC)
- Ukraine was first mentioned in 12th century. Russia did not exist. 188.146.150.168 (talk) 06:06, 28 March 2025 (UTC)
- Ukraine did not exist at this time, he himself identified as Russian, and even referred to Kiev as a Russian city in his book. He even named his bomber after Russia. He is, objectively speaking, either Russian or Russian-American, with no ties to Ukraine, which, again, did not exist back then. 31.208.30.70 (talk) 09:50, 9 May 2025 (UTC)
- So then Tadeusz Kościuszko was a Russian-American too? Or there are some reason the same reasonong is not applying to both? Knowledgeisakey (talk) 23:06, 12 May 2025 (UTC)

Ukrainian-Russian-American? (again)
born in Kiev, lived in Russia and in the US, so why not? Sinkov I (talk) 06:35, 4 May 2025 (UTC)
- Because Ukraine did not exist at this time, he himself identified as Russian, and even referred to Kiev as a Russian city in his book. 31.208.30.70 (talk) 09:48, 9 May 2025 (UTC)
- And he was considering Ukrainians to be subgroup of Russians (at least initially). So this is not an argument that could be used to deny his Ukrainian self-identification. Knowledgeisakey (talk) 23:07, 12 May 2025 (UTC)
- Other than the fact that he actually didn't self-identify as Ukrainian, of course, at least as reported in reliable published sources. BilCat (talk) 01:01, 13 May 2025 (UTC)
- He explicitly identified as Ukrainian by stating that he considers Ukrainians to be Russians. If he was not Ukrainian then him making such remark would have zero sense. If he was not considering himeself Ukrainian he would have no reason to make such statements. Knowledgeisakey (talk) 13:42, 13 May 2025 (UTC)
- Where is that reported in reliable published sources? BilCat (talk) 16:36, 13 May 2025 (UTC)
