Talk:hp

Direct to horsepower or HP (disambiguation)

• Dab I think Hp [with a lowercase p] should instead redirect to the HP (disambiguation) page, as users refering to Hewlett Packard would generally capitalize both letters. Tonsofpcs 01:45, 10 May 2005 (UTC)
• Horsepower Actually, virtually all links are about horsepower. Hp redirects to horsepower now, which links to HP (disambiguation) for clarity. Comment on Talk:HP (disambiguation) with suggestions. Bz2 11:07, 10 March 2006 (UTC)
• Horsepower I'm not sure why someone changed this back to HP (disambiguation). I have returned it to Horsepower as the obvious intended target of the pages that link here. We shouldn't be sending people on wild link chases! SlackerMom 12:19, 16 October 2007 (UTC)
• Dab If people were careful about capitalisation I might agree but they are not and there are other claimants to the "obvious intended target" for hp or HP ... see discussion at Talk:HP (disambiguation). Abtract (talk) 11:19, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
• Dab WP:REDIRECT indicates that redirects exist for use in assuaging reader capitalization issues, and since Hewlett-Packard goes by the lowercase "hp," as depicted on the company's logo, it makes most sense to direct traffic to the disambiguation page. Parenthetically, there is a short description of horsepower on the dab anyway. —Eustress ^talk 05:52, 20 November 2009 (UTC)
• Horsepower now, Eustress, I respectfully disagree with your view on WP:REDIRECT. This shouldn't be a case of "obviousness" or the like, let's stick with what the articles showcase. Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 05:49, 22 November 2009 (UTC)

Change redirect to HP

The current system is confusing as people are redircted to the Horsepower page when looking for HP Inc. or other pages at HP. It especially confusing for users because Horsepower is commonly wirtten as HP and HP Inc. writes hp (lowercase) on their computers as their logo. And many links on HP are lowercase. – BrandonXLF ^(t@lk) 14:51, 9 October 2018 (UTC)

So start an RFD or other discussion to get a new consensus. Primefac (talk) 15:55, 9 October 2018 (UTC)
