Ah, yes - I had read somewhere that Baker's statement was originally intended to defend Nixon by suggesting that he hadn't known about things. But I couldn't find confirmation, so I wasn't going to add it. And then I forgot and added the half-completed sentence. john k 04:30, 14 Jun 2005 (UTC)

In re Statesman

I don't see how he isn't distinguished and a statesman. He was President Reagan's Chief of Staff, a United States Senator, the Senate Majority Leader, and Ambassador to Japan. Sounds both distinguished and statesmanlike to me. (On a side note, Dr. Annis is a friend and former professor of mine.) Steven (talk) 15:40, 6 March 2008 (UTC)

Fixing mechanical items, mainly confused pronoun reference and deleting material not related to Baker

Lots of good info here! 'Went through this and made mechanical corrections, especially relating to complex sentence construction pronoun reference and some dangling modifiers. Also, 'deleted several sentences that talk about other people but don't relate to Baker himself. If it's going to be in THIS article, it should be tied in to make it relevant to Baker. Lead is too long

The lead is too long for the article. It repeats too much, word for word, of the article content. I am going to remove redundant material.

Typo Issue - not sure how to resolve

This article contains the following line:

 "Watergate reporter Bob Woodward white that then, both the majority Democrats and minority Republicans agreed"...

I'm not sure what word "white" is supposed to actually be. Maybe "writes"? EricTN (talk) 22:56, 15 August 2018 (UTC)
