Doctorandus

The article currently describes a doctorandus as "a doctoral degree." A doctorand is someone who is poised to receive a doctorate, just as a graduand is someone poised to graduate. The closest equivalent in US educational circles would be the MPHil granted by, e.g., Columbia and Yale or the CPhil (Candidate in Philosophy) granted by University of California institutions to people who have completed all requirements for doctoral degrees apart from their dissertations. (Such people are sometimes referred to as at the "ABD"—all but dissertation—stage of their programs.) Is there a simple way of reflecting this in the way HJMN's educational achievements are described? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 172.56.178.80 (talk) 00:43, 27 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
