More citations needed in integrity section
It seems to me that the "Integrity and failure" section is very poorly sourced. For instance, the first 4 paragraphs, while constituting a significant portion of the body text, only have four citations. I don't really have much to say at the moment as I haven't properly researched the topic to add more sources yet, but I felt it was valuable to have a place for collaboration (it's very frustrating to see a generic maintenance template without any additional information). /home/gracen/ (they/them) 16:10, 30 January 2025 (UTC)
Is DASD an inequivalent term to HDD
The note in the LEDE provided a list of inequivalent terms to "hard disk drive", but for all practical purposes all of the listed terms are applied today to HDDs so using "inequivalent" is IMO misleading and not supported in the body of the article. The reason for using "inequivalent" is some IBM DASD some time ago used flexible magnetic media but even this is explained in the second sentence of the note, so I suggest "inequivalent" is inappropriate in the LEDE and have rephrased the first sentence to make it clear that these terms apply to HDDs. BTW, the sentence does not say these terms only apply to HDDs so it is correct on its face. Tom94022 (talk) 21:35, 20 March 2025 (UTC)
- It's not just old hardware. A solid-state drive (SSD) is a DASD but not a disk. -- Shmuel (Seymour J.) Metz Username:Chatul (talk) 13:01, 21 March 2025 (UTC)

Is this correct?
"they are replacing HDDs in applications where speed, power consumption, small size, high capacity and durability" - Capacity is the only reason to buy HDDs these days. All the best: Rich Farmbrough 18:16, 11 June 2025 (UTC).
