Name

His obit by Avram Davidson (or a summary of it) is collected at Fantasy & Science Fiction: Stories (by date); it probably should be considered authoritative for his birth name, despite the typo that (contrary to the "Story title" entry) omits the S from his given name. (It is the source for the Maxfield Parrish reference as well.)

Note that the occasional surname "Woodward" is a more common one in general than "Woodard", but seldom given for him, and probably a mistranscription (or repetition of one) when it appears for him.

"he was the only Weird Tales artist who was also a Weird Tales writer (and vice versa)" I would strongly suggest re-evaluating this statement, since at least one other Weird Tales author, namely Clark Ashton Smith, also contributed both prose and artwork to the "unique magazine", albeit only sporadically. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.142.60.10 (talk) 11:46, 11 November 2009 (UTC)
