Other source about the "Jewish question"
Hello. I was reading several parts of the article, and in particular when referring to the "Jewish question", I think that a reference to her work "Der Zionismus aus heutiger Sicht" would be interesting/needed. The text: "Although Arendt remained a Zionist both during and after World War II, she made it clear that she favored the creation of a Jewish-Arab federated state in British Mandate of Palestine (now Israel and the Palestinian territories), rather than a purely Jewish state. She believed that this was a way to address Jewish statelessness and to avoid the pitfalls of nationalism." is probably fine, but still in the article of Hannah Arendt that I mentioned seems that she speak about Zionism from the perspective of someone that can't be fitted in that category. For example, the last words in German in that article were "Wenn die Zionisten an ihrer sektiererischen Ideologie festhalten und mit ihrem kursbestimmenden „Realismus“ fortfahren, dann werden sie selbst die geringen Chancen verwirken, die in unserer nicht allzu schonen Welt kleine Volker immer moch haben". She doesn't seems speaking as a Zionist anymore along the article, being critical with the last Zionist movement declarations at Atlantic City, Biltmore etc...
What do you think? It is fair revise the text? Thanks. AyubuZimbale (talk) 20:56, 18 November 2024 (UTC)
Mention of viewpoint on segregation in the lead
I added a mention of her opposition to racial integration in the lead, but an editor revert to say it needs to be discussed on the talk first. So if anyone has objections please say them, otherwise I will probably just restore it in a few days or weeks from now. 128.193.154.187 (talk) 23:12, 3 February 2025 (UTC)
- I did add a source to go along with it as well, and it is mentioned in the body, though it is not a BLP page so I don't think the criteria is as strict there. 128.193.154.187 (talk) 23:15, 3 February 2025 (UTC)
- I should mention that it is only one sentence as well and a citation, since it's not a very significant part of the article body 128.193.154.187 (talk) 23:17, 3 February 2025 (UTC)
- The section of the article on her views is extensive. Why should her opposition to the desegregation of Little Rock schools be highlighted in the lead rather than any of her other controversial views? Schazjmd (talk) 15:01, 4 February 2025 (UTC)
- The reason why I added this information is because I had heard rumors about her being a segregationist, since it seems to be a common critique of Arendt. but wasn't sure if they were true or not. So, I checked Wikipedia, and it was rather difficult to find any information on this. Of course, I was simply looking for a yes or no answer, and thought this could fit in the lead without making the lead too long, and may be helpful for others doing research on Arendt. 128.193.54.182 (talk) 02:35, 16 February 2025 (UTC)

Graduation from Heidelberg Error
The current article states that Arendt completed her doctorate at Heidelberg in 1929, but all German sources (even Heidelberg University itself) state that it was actually 1928. How has such a major and obvious error gone unnoticed and uncorrected? 2404:C0:9A90:0:0:0:16A8:E585 (talk) 11:04, 20 March 2025 (UTC)
- Doctorate completed 1928, published 1929:
- The Heidelberg University Archives also verify this:
- https://web.archive.org/web/20180220034313/https://www.uni-heidelberg.de/uniarchiv/bdm2015-11.html 2404:C0:9A90:0:0:0:2683:8CB1 (talk) 13:54, 28 April 2025 (UTC)
- The footnote for this sentence in the article is wrong: "In 1926 she moved to the University of Heidelberg, completing her dissertation in 1929 under Karl Jaspers." [#38, Villa 2000, p. xiii.]
- Here is what is written on Villa 2000, xiii-xiv:
- "1929 -- Meets Gunther Stern, a young Jewish philosopher. Becomes romantically involved. Arendt’s dissertation, Der Liebesbegriff bei Augustin, published. Marries Stern later that year."
- "PUBLISHED" is the keyword, not completed. The author has confused publication and completion dates. 182.4.100.46 (talk) 08:07, 24 May 2025 (UTC)
