Unclear definition

This article is unfocused. It needs to explain the differences (if there are any) between a handmaiden and a maid and/or housekeeper, etc. The cultural references also need to be made clearer in this light, otherwise, this article should simply be redirected to maid. 151.197.226.214 (talk) 14:45, 16 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Unsourced

I cut the Wiccan reference as it had citation needed for over three years. I put a citation needed on a few of the other claims; I didn't find a reliable reference for any of them; the references I found seemed to be quoting Wikipedia.

I think Handmaiden deserves its own article, which was the result of a vote a few years ago. But right now it needs serious work. Alden Loveshade (talk) 19:29, 6 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Needs to be generalized more

The contents of this article are mostly based on Biblical accounts. Other viewpoints should be also included; for example, handmaidens in Asian cultures. JETH888 message me 08:23, 29 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
