Hadhrami architecture

Template:Moved discussion from

Hello Prazeres! How are you doing?
Since you know a lot about Arab architecture, I want to ask you if you have or know any sources about the architecture of Hadhramaut as I want to add something about it to the Hadhramaut article. Thanks, 𐩣𐩫𐩧𐩨 Abo Yemen (𓃵) 20:45, 18 March 2025 (UTC)Reply

Hey! Though it's of great interest, Yemen is actually not quite my specialty, so much of what I know is ultimately what I researched for the Architecture of Yemen article, so you can find them there in the citations and a couple more in the "Further reading" section. Lewcock 1986 is a convenient and freely available reference. Many of the others cited (Blair and Bloom, Petersen) are just general Islamic architecture references which have brief summaries of the topic, maybe useful at a pinch but not in-depth.
Finster's chapter on pre-Islamic architecture also mentions various Hadramaut sites. She cites Alexander Sedov, who has a book on Temples of Ancient Hadramaut: Arabia Antica. I haven't found the book, but he has an earlier co-authored article on the topic available here and also several other articles on specific but related topics here (though I think you need to make a free account for academia.edu), if that helps.
Salma Samar Damluji also seems to have several books about Yemeni architecture (mostly vernacular architecture, I think) that have significant sections or chapters about Hadramaut (if I remember correctly; unfortunately I don't have copies of them). I put her 2020 book in the FR section, but I believe it's a revised edition of her 2008 book and she also has a 1992 book with similar topic; any of these, I'd bet, would be useful if you can access them.
I hope that's a little bit helpful. If I think of or see anything else, I'll let you know. R Prazeres (talk) 21:19, 18 March 2025 (UTC)Reply
Thank you! That should be enough to write a small section on that article. As for accessibility, I can always sail the seas Template:Laugh 𐩣𐩫𐩧𐩨 Abo Yemen (𓃵) 21:33, 18 March 2025 (UTC)Reply
