Puzzling History

Some of the edits seemed to me to make things less clear. Why was the fact that it was UK based removed? Mentioning the painting once seems enough to me. What was the company named from 1907 to 1910? Any objection to having the HMV era history covered in that article rather than this one? -- Infrogmation 21:43, 13 Sep 2004 (UTC)

I may have been a little to quick to do the edits, but the early EMI history is not that straight. I'll recheck. warpozio 10:10, 14 Sep 2004 (UTC)

I would go further to suggest that the first three paragraphs of the History section be completely rewritten. There are too many characters involved: founders, owners, manufacturers, agents; several inter-related companies in different countries (the U.S., England, Germany, Canada), and the text flows somewhat erratically. In the resulting confusion, one easily loses track of the main subject, the Gramophone Company. Also, the statements on the founding of the company in the Emile Berliner article seem to be in contradiction to what is said here. --AVM (talk) 03:16, 11 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

The "Gramophone Company" were on the circulation list of government reports concerning radio direction finding stations in WW2 from the Signals Research and Development Establishment. This would indicate that their London company were probably involved in supplying equipment for military use. It would be nice to confirm that this was the same organisation. Another puzzle!
