In Scotland
From my observations in Scotland, this species always occurs under Scots Pine (due to the mycorrhizal association with the needles?) and does not tolerate dense vegetation (due to it's size?). Almost always in small patches (spreads mainly by rhizomes?)
What is the reference for it beeing the most common orchid in Scandinavia? I am a norwegian, my flora does not mention this. I am not sure, but I would think Dactylorhiza maculata is more common. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Knut kbjno (talk • contribs) 16:04, 2 January 2015 (UTC)
