Untitled

There are currently THREE images in the page, all with the vey similar portrait of Simmel, which is totally unnecessary. I'm taking out the second two (they all look alike anyways, so I won't bother choosing between them).

In my view, the overall entry on Simmel has not been improved by successive changes - e.g. his special 'formal' sociology and his philsophical ideas now lack prominence. How does this happen?82.11.204.64 11:52, 5 November 2006 (UTC)David JaryReply

English translation of titles

Is there any way we can get the English translations for the titles of all Simmel's works? I am reading Conflict and the Web of Group Affiliations and would like to be true to their original German titles; but I don't speak German and can't find English references to this work anywhere in the wiki article. black forest

the last sentence of this article proper is pretty ambiguous (and uhhhh funny): "He stopped reading the paper and withdrew to the Black Forest to finish his book." 64.187.32.198 04:14, 1 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

And unreferenced. Tacyarg (talk) 14:16, 21 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

Why funny?173.72.115.153 (talk) 18:54, 20 September 2018 (UTC)DeMikeal TibbettsReply
The word "ambiguous" designates the concept of "having more than one meaning." There is only one meaning to "stopped reading the paper" if it is assumed that "the paper" means "the daily newspaper." Also, there is only one meaning to "withdrew to the Black Forest." It signifies a migration to a specific sylvan location. Therefore, the penultimate sentence of the "Personal life" section is not ambiguous (nor is it funny or humorous).173.72.115.153 (talk) 17:25, 22 September 2018 (UTC)De Mikeal TibbettsReply

in text citation

please use footnotes to cite facts in Wikipedia. In-text citations clutter up cyclopedia articles, interrupt and distract the reader, and generally look bad. Rudy Breteler (talk) 18:02, 7 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Simmel only as a German Sociologist? Check this subject in "As aventuras de George Simmel" Prof. Leopoldo Waizbort. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 201.87.78.38 (talk) 00:00, 28 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Son's name?

Article and other sources refer to him as Hans Eugen, but The New World Encyclopedia and other sources call him Gertmund. Anyone know what's up here? Tacyarg (talk) 14:18, 21 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

Marianne Weber

It's a remarkable failure, that Simmels' contact with Marianne Weber is mentioned on her page, while on his page only Max Weber is mentioned, even 5 times. 92.109.206.85 (talk) 09:35, 26 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
