Perimeter
What is the perimeter of Alberta's boundries? Are there any articles on the perimeters of geographic entities? Kevlar67 04:15, 22 February 2006 (UTC)

The number for the boundary length of 644 km (400 miles) should be checked. I calculated a value of 555.2 km for 10 degrees of longitude at a latitude of 60 degrees. The radius of the Earth at 60 degrees latitude is 6362.1 km. Therefore the radius of the Arctic circle will be r·cos(60°) = 3181.1 km. 10 degrees (0.174) of longitude at a latitude of 60 degrees will span a distance of 0.17453 radians · 3181.1 km = 555.2 km. Measuring the distance on Google Earth gives 556.8 km. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.146.78.58 (talk) 22:41, 11 November 2010 (UTC)
