What's the current state, if the legislation was passed in may? Circeus 19:43, July 27, 2005 (UTC)

European flag

I'm removing the reference to Slevin designing the European flag, as it seems to be thoroughly debunked here [1], and he gets no mention at [2], [3] Lozleader 07:50, 1 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

I think that the removal is warranted by the sources that you cite. Well done, Loz. :) --Eva db 08:50, 1 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Genealogical Office

The next problem being that the title of the office is the Genealogical Office, as provided in various statutes of the Oireachtas.

Just to make things more interesting their notepaper gives the title: Oifig Ghinealais / Genealogical Office, while the Chief Herald's busines card gives Oifig Phríomh-Aralt na hÉireann / Office of the Chief Herald of Ireland

Which makes for rather a long opening sentence:

The Office of the Chief Herald of Ireland (Oifig Phríomh-Aralt na hÉireann), officially the Genealogical Office (Oifig Ghinealais), (sometimes incorrectly called the Office of Arms) is the Republic of Ireland's authority on all heraldic matters relating to Ireland and is located at the National Library of Ireland.

Actually its part of the NLI, but has its own building on the same street (and of course used to be in Dublin Castle, so the end of the sentence nedds rewriting as well..

Eeek!

Perhaps a split between the office and the officer...?

In error, outdated?

This seems to be error or at least outdated. According to the Irish government, the Office of the Chief Herald is not a part of the Genealogical Office. Rather, the Genealogical Office is a former name of the Office of the Chief Herald [4].  — SMcCandlish ¢ 😼  04:05, 27 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

Chiefs of the Name

"Following advice from the Attorney General that the recognition of Chiefs of the Name was without basis in law,[14] the practice of courtesy recognition was abandoned in July 2003.[15]". But footnote refers to events in 2006, so how could the abandonment follow it? 2A00:23C6:AE82:5D01:41F3:885A:9063:9163 (talk) 19:22, 11 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
