Pronunciation
I'm not sure about the pronunciation currently on this page, which is Template:IPAc-en. The first mention of pronunciation on the page, as nearly as I can tell, was added in this revision, and stated "It is pronounced 'Gair-ad' with the thrid "r" silent." This remained until it was converted to the present IPA with this edit. The IPA doesn't appear to match the less formal pronunciation it replaced, with "ad" becoming Template:IPAc-en. I made a sound file of how I pronounce it, which another user transcribed to IPA as Template:IPAc-en. That seems to me a bit closer to what was originally in the article, but I'm a bit bad with vowel sounds and I live pretty far from there, though still in the state. Anyone want to weigh in and see if we can get a correct pronunciation (which I would also like to add to James Garrard, btw)? Acdixon (talk · contribs) 18:41, 11 September 2015 (UTC)
- the voice file is fine, might as well be a native as I am for 30 yrs! 172.97.73.143 (talk) 17:43, 6 June 2025 (UTC)

Source links within page.
The link to source at the Uncle Tom's cabin mention directs to the Carrie Nation info. Also the Uncle Tom's Cabin info is also probably regarding the historic marker and it's text. It is "loose" documentation that H.B.Stowe ever visited, and there is none that support the cabin other than a long history of area fable or legend hence the marker. The county has had other embarrassing "historical" markers such as the old marker (has been replaced but still exists online) in Paint Lick telling of an Indian Chief "Thunder" who killed a young girl Jinney Adams. She died by lightning strike at her spinning wheel as doccumented in the Boyle Genealogy done in 1903 (?). 172.97.73.143 (talk) 17:54, 6 June 2025 (UTC)
